What stays on your device, and what leaves it
The public navigator needs no account or email. This page covers it; the private cloud workspace is a separate, invitation-only service.
On your device
- Your résumé or notes, approved experience, destination research, priorities (including any minimum pay you state), choices and earlier versions are saved in this browser’s local storage.
- Download backup saves a copy as a file you keep. Delete from this browser, at the foot of the navigator, removes the run you have open; it does not touch files you downloaded or other runs kept in this browser.
- Start a new résumé keeps the run you had open in this browser, unchanged, under Runs in this browser, and opens a blank one, so more than one person can use one browser without deleting anyone’s run. Anyone using this browser can open a kept run; the list shows only its stage and dates, not the résumé. Kept runs stay in this browser only and are never sent anywhere; delete a run after opening it, or clear this site’s data, to remove it.
What is sent, and only when you ask
- “Help me understand my experience with AI” (unticked by default): the text in the résumé box goes to Aimvane’s server and on to Google’s Gemini model through Vercel AI Gateway, to propose insights and questions. Left unticked, your résumé text is organized in your browser; the separate title-and-company lookup below can still run.
- Organizing your résumé: current-role lookup: the current job title and company are extracted locally from labelled fields, a complete job title followed by “at” and the employer, or a title-first heading whose company has a corporate ending such as Inc. or LLC. Ambiguous name/title headers stay unresolved and send no lookup. When resolved, organizing starts a public-source lookup of those two terms only: they go to Aimvane’s server and to Perplexity search and Gemini through Vercel AI Gateway. Your name, résumé text, location and project statements are not included. The existing role-search prompt is reused, without a synthesis call. The lookup uses one assisted-analysis allowance; it runs while you review and does not block approval. A saved run is never looked up merely because you open it: its “Look up this title at this company” action starts the same disclosed flow. You can also select a previous role under “Clarify a previous role”; the same two-term lookup and allowance apply, with no automatic history sweep. Public excerpts can prompt questions about work you have not described. Only your own wording, explicitly added to the experience draft and then approved, can become a personal claim. Unresolved scope is labelled; employer duties never become your experience.
- Researching a destination: only the destination’s name, constraint, industries, example job titles and the region you enter are sent to a web search provider (Perplexity) and to Gemini, both through Vercel AI Gateway. Public employer job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby) are looked up for those titles. The destination’s first job title and the region also go to Bright Data, which collects public LinkedIn postings as part of the same research run; it is counted in that run’s allowance and capped per run. When you swapped the destination into your top three, that is sent as a single yes and counted, never stored with the request. Your résumé is not sent. It helps suggest relevant destinations and match a bridge on your device; the market-quality rating uses the destination’s public sources.
- “Compare my approved experience with this ladder” (bridge analysis): your approved experience, your clarifications and the full text of the résumé you approved go to Gemini with the destination’s research.
- “Read postings that state no decision”: when you click it, only the text of public postings in your role list whose text states no decision Aimvane can read and posts no senior-level pay (up to 12 per click) goes to Aimvane’s server, which keeps nothing, and on to Gemini through Vercel AI Gateway, to read whether each seat is responsible for a consequential technical outcome. Your résumé and your approved experience are not sent, and neither are the postings’ titles and employers as separate fields (the posting text itself often names them). Each quoted phrase is checked against the posting before it is used, and the readings are kept only in your browser. It uses one assisted-analysis allowance.
- “Refresh listings”: the destination’s research terms (its name, constraint, industries, region and example job titles) go to Aimvane’s server, which reads the public employer job boards again for its first title and region. Every refresh also sends that title and region to Bright Data, which collects public LinkedIn postings, from your job-site allowance; there is no box to tick, and when that allowance is used the boards still refresh and LinkedIn is shown as not collected this run. Your résumé is not sent: open roles are matched and ranked against your approved experience in your browser.
- “Scan for frontier roles”: the board scan: before any research, the catalog terms of up to six destinations your approved evidence reaches (each name, constraint, industries and example job titles) and the region you enter go to Aimvane’s server, which reads the public employer job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby) for each first title and region. No model is called and no paid record is bought. Your résumé is not sent. The research that follows is the same as “Researching a destination” above.
Those providers process the text under their own terms. Aimvane cannot delete copies they keep.
What Aimvane’s server keeps
- No résumé, notes or results. Requests are processed and answered; the server does not store their contents or log them.
- To enforce daily limits: a signed session cookie that expires after 24 hours, and anonymous one-way hashes of a random session ID and of your network address, which expire after 48 hours. Starting a disclosed research action, ticking the assisted-analysis box, and finishing a run reads today’s allowance from these counts, so it can be shown before you spend a run; nothing you typed is sent with that request.
- When you research a destination you swapped into your top three, a single anonymous daily count goes up by one, with nothing about you or the destination attached; it expires after 48 hours. It tells the builder whether the derived three are often swapped.
- The hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard request logs such as IP address and time.
The Path Review form, feedback and check-ins
- The Path Review page has two forms you fill in on purpose: an application and a feedback box. Only what you type there is sent, to Aimvane’s server, and stored in its inbox so a person can answer it: what you are deciding, where you are now, years in engineering, your email, whether you said you had used the navigator, your check-in choice, the time it arrived, your feedback text and which step it concerns. Your résumé, approved experience and research are never read from the navigator or sent by these forms.
- If you tick the check-in box, your email is kept so one person can send you at most one email about 30 days later. Your email is deleted with the entry once it is answered, and within 90 days at most; feedback without an email is anonymous.
- Inbox entries are deleted within 90 days of receipt, or earlier once answered, by the operator; there is no automatic deletion. Ask at any time to have yours deleted. Only the operator can read the inbox. Nothing in it is shared or sold.
Assisted sessions (optional)
If you ask for an assisted session, it is run by Simeon Melake personally. They see what you share during the session, on your screen or in what you send. They keep only a session note, kept in the project’s private records and never shared. The note records: the date and your yes or no to each consent point; the opportunity discussed; the identifiers (not the text) of your approved claims that support it; the main blocker; the next step you chose, the access it needs, who can authorize it, the effort it takes, the assistance you may use for it, what decision it would change and how you will know it worked; the kinds of outcome to follow up; destinations or roles you expected Aimvane to show and it did not; and any defect in Aimvane you hit. A defect becomes a public test case written with made-up data only, never with anything from your session. They never keep your résumé, your saved workspace or the text of your claims. Your workspace stays in your browser and in any backup you download. Session notes are deleted within 90 days. A participant can have their note deleted sooner by emailing the owner, and deletion requests are honored. Assistance never writes your experience: every claim stays in your own words, approved by you.
What Aimvane does not do
- It never contacts an employer or anyone else for you, and it does not screen or rank applicants.
- Its research is a bounded sample of public sources, not advice or a guarantee. Confirm openings, pay and decision rights before acting.
